Ben C. Abben, Sr. and Janken Bruns were married in Freeport, Illinois, in 1870, and moved to Ackley, Iowa, the same year. They moved to Lyon County in 1893, and to Little Rock in 1904. They were married for sixty-five years. Their children were: John (married Ora Christians); Anna (Mrs. Webb Henrichs); Ben C. (married Zella Bilsbarough); Abe (married Rena Brandsma); Grace (Mrs. Jake D. Kruse); Dena (Mrs. Henry Siemon); and Rev. Abbo (married Frieda Grieder.)
