Services for Dorothy Storm, 87, will be Monday, October 24, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will be in the Humeston Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to the Legacy Lodge - Circle of Life Hospice. Dorothy Isabel Davis was born September 28, 1924 in Corydon, Iowa to Ernest and Lucy Davis. She was the 4th of five children. Dorothy attended the country school at Oakdale and at the age of eleven moved to Cambria. While attending the Cambria Consolidated Schools she played basketball for three years and lettered all three years. She was also catcher for the softball team during her high school years. She graduated from high school in 1942.
Dorothy met Virgil in 1942. They wed May 27, 1945 and spent the next 66 years at each others side. They started their lives together on a farm in Humeston and later moved to their farm north of Lucas in 1961. To this union were born two children, Kathleen and Ken. Dorothy kept busy quilting while Virgil worked on the farm and in the sawmill. They enjoyed traveling, square dancing, attending country music shows, and bowling. Dorothy was a great cook and is especially known for her pies.
2011. She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Lucy Davis, husband Virgil, infant daughter Kathleen, sisters Esther Hughes and Elizabeth Thompson, brother Richard Davis, brother-in-laws Arthur Hughes and Harvey Thompson, sister-in-law Dorothy Davis, and nephew Steven Davis.
Dorothy is survived by her son Ken (Robin), grandchildren : Aaron (Christo) of Ashland, MO, Adam (Kristie) of Lucas, Jennifer (Brett) Black, Anica Klouda of Johnston, Landon (Tiffany) of Altoona, nine great-grandchildren: Abby and Trace Storm, Melia, Maraena, Serena, and Sabrie Black, Colton and Cadence Klouda, and Chanel Klouda. Also by brother Robert Davis of Anamosa, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
