HENRY KARN was born in Carol County, Ohio, March 5, 1832 and departed this
life at his home near Newbern, April 4, 1909, aged 77 years and 1 month, a
complication of diseases being the cause of his death. He was married to
MARY MALINDA BEST Feb. 8, 1855, in Ohio, moving to Illinois, where they
lived till the spring of 1860, then to Iowa, where he has lived ever since.
He leaves an aged wife and four children to mourn his death. The four
children, FRED; MRS. EMMA BRAWNER of near Dallas; JOHN of Chariton, and WILL
who resides near here, were all present at his death and funeral which took
place at the home, April 5 at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Hulbert.

He united with the Presbyterian Church a number of years ago. His suffering
was intense and of a long duration. By his death the aged wife loses a kind
and affectionate husband, the children a kind father and the community an
honorable and upright citizen. He was laid to rest in Newbern's beautiful
cemetery to await the call of the Master at the final resurrection. The
writer extends our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones in their deep
sorrow.
