AURELIUS CULBERTSON was born Aug. 12, 1819, near Zanesville, Ohio, and died
at his home north of Chariton, Jan. 11, 1908, at the age of 89 years, 4
months and 19 days. His death was due to the infirmities of old age. He
was married to MARGARET GALLAGHER, March 27, 1845. To them were born nine
children, seven of whom survive.

He came to Lucas County in 1867, locating on a farm about three miles north
of Chariton, where he has since resided. He united with the Presbyterian
Church when a young man, and has since lived a consistent Christian life.
He was an honorable and upright man, and has gone to his reward. He leaves
three sons, JOHN and HOWARD of Chariton; LEWIS of Provo City, Utah; and four
daughters, MRS. ALEXANDER of Chico, Calif.; MRS. SNEDAKER of Mt. Ayr; MRS.
CHAMPLAIN of near Derby, and ETTA who lived with her father, to mourn his
departure.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 o'clock, Monday afternoon,
conducted by Rev. McCullagh of the Presbyterian Church, and the remains laid
to rest in the Chariton Cemetery by the side of his companion who preceded
him.
