The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, January 3, 1907

EMMA SAVAGE was born in Henry County, this State, Oct. 20, 1851, and died at
Oakley, Dec. 26, 1906, after an illness of only twenty-four hours of
peritonitis and perforation of gastric ulcers, at the age of 55 years, 2
months and 24 days. She was united in marriage to MR. CICERO GILLASPIE in
the year of 1869, and moved to Oakley, this county, where she has since
resided.

To this union were born ten children, four of whom preceded her to the
better world. She united with the Baptist Church when but sixteen years of
age and lived a true devoted Christian life. The remaining children were
all present on this sad occasion with the exception of one daughter, MRS.
HATTIE FRESHER, of Aurora, Ill.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Brown of Oakley, were held at the
Christian Church after which interment was made in Niswender Cemetery. The
sorrowing friends have the sympathy of the community in their great hour of
trouble.
