Bingaman, 98, of Chariton died here Friday of a heart attack. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fielding funeral Home, with burial in Coal Glen Cemetery.

Mrs. Bingaman was born in Chariton and was a lifelong resident of Lucas County. She was a retired teacher, a member of the Farm Bureau and the Pleasant Prairie Church.

Survivors include a son, William of Chariton; a daughter, Jane nelson of Fontana, Calif.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from y7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present. memorial contributions may be made to her church. ~ The Des Moines Resister, Des Moines, Iowa Sun 11 Aug 1991.

BINGAMAN

Flossie Fern Bingaman, daughter of Eunice and John Shults, was born March 25, 1893 and passed away August 9, 1991 at the Chariton Manor at the age of 98 years, 4 months and 15 days.

She was united in marriage to Loren G. Bingaman Feb. 27, 1918. To this union were born three children, William Franklin (Benjie), Eunice Jane and one son who died in infancy.

She was born on the family farm and lived there and in the area most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren, her brother, Pearl Shults, her sister Ethel Pearson and many dear friends.

She was a lifetime member of the Coal Glen-Pleasant Prairie Methodist Church.

She taught school a total of fifteen years. She rode her horse to the country school where she built the fire and carried water from the well where she filled the communal waterpail.

She loved to tend her garden and flowers and received great joy from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the end.

Fern leaves to mourn her a daughter, Eunice Nelson of California, a son and wife, Benjie and Theda Bingaman of Chariton, six granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Velta Kincaid of Chariton and many other relatives and friends.
