Mary Harlene Kirby, 89, of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania died on February 4, 2014, at the Gettysburg Lutheran Retirement Village.
Born March 24, 1924, in Vinton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Dr. Harley E. Kelly and Loretto A. Kelly. She was married twice. Her first marriage to Mr. James J. Kirby, a union lasting 44 years and ending with his death (1947-1991), and a subsequent marriage to Mr. Jack Flournoy, (2001-2010), until his death in 2010.
Mrs. Kirby was a devout Catholic, an x-Ray Technician for 20 years at various locations, a board member at the Association for Retarded Citizens (Arc) in Jefferson County, Iowa, and president of the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.
She loved to travel and did so extensively in retirement.
A devoted mother of three, Harlene is survived by two sons, James Robert "Bob" Kirby and his wife Beth of Gettysburg and their two children, Megan and James E. and Partick Kirby, his wife Harrigan of Lynden, WA, and their daughter Kelly and a daughter, Cynthia A. Kirby of Bellingham, WA.
Mrs. Kirby's remains will be interred in the family plot in Chariton, Iowa, where a memorial service will be held later this spring.
