Wanda Eloise McDonald, 90, passed away on February 25, 2013, at Valley View Village in Des Moines.

Eloise was born in Chariton on May 10, 1922, to Earle and Inez Foley. Raised in Des Moines, she was a 1940 graduate of North High School, where she met J. Arliss McDonald, the love of her life.

In 1984, Eloise retired as a 25-year employee of Preferred Risk Mutual, where she had achieved the distinction of being the company's first female major accounts underwriter. She loved traveling and spending time with friends and family, was a devoted member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, and gave many years of volunteer service to Mercy Hospital.

Eloise shared 53 blessed years of marriage to Arliss until his death in 1997. She is survived by her sons, Dick "Mackie" McDonald of Little Rock, AR, and Timothy (Nancy) McDonald of Richmond, Virginia; grandson, Kevin (Leilani) McDonald of Altoona; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 1, at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home, 105 Fourth Street SW in Altoona, with a private family burial following at Glendale Cemetery.
