Funeral services for Alice L. Askren, 88, of Chariton, who died March 14, at the Chariton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chariton, were held March 17, 1997, at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Burial was at Strong Cemetery in Lucas County. Pastors Norman Bennett and Walden Askren officiated at the services.

Alice was born July 17, 1908, in Purdy, the daughter of William A. and Celestine I. Moon Askren. She was a lifelong resident of Lucas and Marion counties. She moved to Chariton six years ago.

She is survived by a sister, Cleta Wiren of Chariton.

Arrangements were made by Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton.
