Jessie Louise Abrahamson
Jessie Louise Feight, age 88, of Williamson was born Aug. 5, 1916, to Jacob and Mable Rogers Feight on a homestead north of Newbern, Iowa. She married Amos “Bill” Abrahamson Jan. 19 1935. To this union was born two daughters; Betty and Juanita), and five sons; Robert, Melvin, Walter, David and Gary). They retired to a home in Williamson, Iowa in 1980.
Jessie delighted in cooking and baking, and used these skills in several restaurants. She spent the last 12 or so years of her work life as a cook at Preferred Risk Insurance Company in Des Moines. She and Bill enjoyed traveling, and getting to know their ever-expanding family, welcoming grandchildren great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren to their bunch.
Jessie and Bill were members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Jessie went to her rest at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa Feb. 29, 2004, after a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Gary; four brothers; two sisters; and three grandchildren.
Surviving are daughter Betty Ryle of Chariton; son Robert D. and wife Marilyn Abrahamson of Gentry, Ark.; daughter Juanita Holmes of Salter, Iowa; son Melvin and wife Mary Abrahamson of Chariton; son Walter and wife Barbara Abrahamson of Chariton; son David and wife Mona of Ankeny, Iowa; special daughter-in-law Donita Brownlee and husband Jerry of Eldon Iowa; and sister Othella Knust of Castle Rock, Colo.
Funeral services for Jessie were held at Fielding Funeral Home Wednesday, March 3, 2004, with Pastor Don Gilbert officiating. Interment was in the Newbern Cemetery. Paul bearers for the service were Kenneth Springer, Jerry Brownlee, Don Morton, Don Schumann, Ronald McCombs and Arnold Erickson.
Memorial may be made to Johnston Mercy Hospice.
