Gerald D. Whittlesey

Gerald D. Whittlesey, 54, of Yakima, Wash., died Jan. 19 at his home.

Mr. Whittlesey was born Mar. 4, 1928, in Russell, Iowa, where he was raised. He moved to Yakima in 1930 and returned to Iowa where he entered the service and served in the U. S. Army from 1948 until 1951.

On May 14, 1957, he married Eileen Stander in Couer d’Alene, Idaho. Mr. Whittlesey worked for the U. S. Rubber Plant as a tire recaper from 1959 until 1964, and worked as a housing contractor, building many homes in the Yakima Valley.

Mr. Whittlesey was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Nazarene Church of Selah, Wash.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Whittlesey of Yakima, Wash., and Roger Whittlesey of Selah. Wash.; two sisters, Marlene Buckallew and Fern Wood, both of Williamson; four brothers, Kenny Whittlesey of Abilene, Tex., Ralph Whittlesey of Great Falls, Mont., Cecil Whittlesey of Osceola, and Marvin Whittlesey of Selah, Wash.; his mother, Grace Whittlesey of Chariton; a granddaughter, Linda Whittlesey; and his wife, Ramona Whittlesey of Yakima, Wash.

His father, Earl Whittlesey, died in 1983. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Paul Whittlesey, and an infant sister, Ruth.
