Wayne Odem Dies - Chariton

Wayne Odem, 88, of Chariton, formerly of Creston, died April 28, 1993, at the Chariton Manor.

Mr. Odem was a barber and worked at Hemphill Hatchery in Creston. He had resided in Chariton for the past 30 years where he operated Odem Hatchery. He was a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and a 50 year member of the Masons.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Odem of Chariton; a son Phillip of Temple, Texas; daughter, Joanne Salls of Dallas, Texas; two stepdaughters, Marcella Shinn of Indianapolis, IN, and Marilyn Carter of Atlantic; and a sister, Nevva Hjortshoj of Monroe.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Chariton Manor.
