JOSIAH A. SMITH
PASSES AWAY
Josiah A. Smith was born in eastern Tennessee. November 22, 1859 and
died March 1st, 1938 at the hospital in Sundance, Wyoming.

On May 6th, 1886 at Chariton, Iowa he was married to Miss Eliza Fox. To
this union nine children were born. His wife and seven children survive
him. Also 28 grandchildren.

His living children are: Mrs. R. C. Larson, Sac City, Iowa; Mrs. W. H.
White, Des Moines, Iowa; J. E. Smith, Omaha, Nebr., Mrs. E. L. Kimsey,
Mrs. J. E. Taylor and Bryan Smith, all of Moorcroft, Wyoming. Two
children, Mrs. Perry Hanley and Harry Smith preceded him in death a few
years ago.

Mr. Smith first came to Wyoming in 1920 to visit his daughters and later
bought a ranch and has made a home there.

He had been in poor health for some time and was taken to the hospital
February 22 (a handwritten note says “took him to hosp. 19th instead of
22.”) He suffered from Brights Disease and other complications. At his
advanced age of 78 years it was impossible for him to recover. His
children were all at his bed-side during his last illness. Our sympathy
goes out to them in their sorrow.
