The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, October 8, 1908After the regular service at the M.E. Church, on Sunday evening, HARLEY H.
JONES and MRS. ALIA GOOKIN appeared before the altar and were united in the
holy bonds of wedlock, Rev. Lathrop, the Pastor, repeating the ceremony
solemnizing the vows. Dr. W.L. Anderson rendered a musical solo on the
organ, appropriate to the occasion, as the words were being spoken. The church was unusually crowded by spectators, many coming especially to
witness the marriage and the congratulations were general to the bride and
groom, who are both well known here and universally respected. They removed on the first of the week, to a cottage in the second ward,
where they will settle down to home life and where all wish them abundant
happiness and a successful career together down life's causeways.
