LUCAS LEDGER ITEMS:

Born to BEN TERRELL and wife south of town Tuesday evening, a son.

JESSE ASHBY and wife, of Norwood, are rejoicing over a new son born Friday,
May 8th.

WILSON BLACKSTOCK while cutting wood last week, cut off the great toe on his
right foot.

W.E. ROWE and N.F. BAKER were in Des Moines this week in the interest of the
Isis gold mine.

WILL SPENCER returned from Firstview, Colo., Friday, where he has spent the
past month looking after business affairs.

MRS. E.H. MCCOLLOUGH, of Dade City, Florida, arrived this morning to spend
the summer with her daughter, MRS. WILLIAM SPENCER.

The relatives who attended the funeral of JOHN ADAMSON last Monday at Lucas
were: Robert Adamson and wife, of Hiteman, John H. Adamson, of Butte, Mont.,
and Mrs. Rosa Sellman, of Williams, Ariz.

MISS LAURA KNOTTS returned to Blockton, Saturday, to finish drilling the
graduating class at that place for commencement.

MISS BLANCHE BAKER entertained MISSES JESSIE PEDIGO, MAUDE LYMAN, MYRTLE
SCOTT and OLIVE FAIN, of Chariton last Sunday.

MARY ANN, wife of JAMES R. JONES, died at her home in Des Moines Saturday,
May 9th with heart failure, aged 62 years. The deceased was a pleasant,
agreeable wife, a good mother and faithful to her friends. MRS. JONES
resided in Cleveland until about four years ago when she moved to Des Moines
She leaves a husband and six children to mourn her loss. Elder Minthum
conducted funeral services at the Latter Day Saints Church in Norwoodvill
(sic) last Monday.
