The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, August 22, 1907

MRS. WILLIAM BELL left last evening for Afton for a few days visit with
friends, and the household goods of the family were today shipped to their
future home at Chariton, Iowa, and MR. BELL will leave this evening for
their new home. Captain BELL will leave this evening for the purpose of
accompanying Company I to the state encampment at Des Moines, but the family
have severed their citizenship in Creston, and in the future will be
Charitonians. MR. BELL will assume durection of the Business College which
he establshied at Chariton, during the spring, and in which Prof. G.E. Busby
is also interested.

MR. and MRS. WILLIAM BELL have been residents of Creston, for many years,
during which time Prof. BELL was principal of the high school in this city,
and was also prominently identified with affairs of the city, and was also
conspicious in church work and in every affair that was of public benefit.
He was a hard worker for the success of those projects in which he became
interested, and was one of the originators of the Chautauqua Meetings for
this city, which is now being conducted under the auspices of a citizens
association, and is one of the kind of men which no community can afford to
lose as citizens, and Chariton is indeed fortunate in securing such a family
for permanent residents. MRS. BELL is no less conspicious for worthy traits
than is her husband, and was prominent in the affairs of the Presbyterian
Church, and a member of a number of societies which she graced with her
membership. She is a lady of great attainments of mind and a pleasing
personality, and will be most sincerely missed in those circles in which she
has moved. The family is warmly recommended to the people of Chariton for
their kindest consideration and they will always have a warm welcome on the
part of the many friends in this city on any occasion on which they find
opportunity to return for the purpose of renewing old acquaintanceships.
