The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, April 18, 1907

A very pretty wedding took place, Wednesday evening, at the First Baptist
Church, in this city, when two of our popular young people, MR. JAMES WALDO
BROWN, and MISS FAY CONNELL, were united in the bonds of wedlock. Promptly
at six o'clock, to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march executed by Miss
Carrie Custer, the bridal couple entered the church, attended by Mr. Howard
Copeland, as best man, and Miss Edith Larimer, maid of honor, and marched
slowly down the aisle to the altar, where Rev. F.B. Palmer spoke the words
which united their future lives, using the impressive ring ceremony.

The bride was becomingly gowned in a champaign colored suit of silk voile,
with hat and gloves to match, and carried a white prayer book. She is the
oldest daughter of MR. and MRS. CHARLES CONNELL, was raised in this city,
and graduated from the High School in the class of 1904. She is a young
lady of culture and refinement, and is one of the leaders of society, in
which she will be greatly missed. The groom is a son of MR. and MRS. J.E.
BROWN, and is also a native of Chariton, and one of the good, substantial
boys of our city. He was formerly connected with his father in the shoe
business but for the past year has been engaged in farming and stock raising
He is a young man of good, moral habits and is worthy his chosen bride.
The maid of honor was dressed in pink embroidered swiss and carried a
bouquet of pink roses. The ushers were Messrs. Clement McCollough and Edd
Woodman. The church was beautifully decorated with white lilies and palms.

After the ceremony, the guests repaired to the home of the bride's parents,
where a sumptuous eight-course wedding banquet was served by Elba Tomilson.
The table was decorated with white and pink ribbon, festooned from the
chandelier to the four corners, and pink and white carnations. The house
was decorated with lilies and potted plants. The presents were numerous and
beautiful.

After a short trip MR. and MRS. BROWN will be at home to their friends, five
miles southwest of the city, which had been furnished by the groom. The
Leader joins their many friends in wishing them a long, happy and prosperous
life.
