The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, January 10, 1907

The widow of the late THOMAS WALLACE, formerly of Otter Creek Township, but
who now resides at Carlisle has brought suit against O.A. WALLACE and eight
other heirs, to set aside deed to a tract of land, consisting of 22 acres in
Otter Creek Township, and to establish her dower right therein. Seventeen
years ago the said THOMAS WALLACE deeded this land to his children, two days
before he married the plaintiff she being his second wife. She claims that
when her husband died she was left without means, but the heirs say they can
establish the fact that she was properly provided for, both in property and
money to the extent of not less than $9,000, and knew at the time of
marriage the disposition their father had made of his property, thus barring
her from any interest in said property.

The case has been continued to the March term in order to give the
defendants time to prepare. It will be stubbornly fought.
