DR. E.L. FIELD was the victim of a very pleasant surprise Thursday evening,
when about a dozen of the physicians of the city invaded his home and
presented him with a beautiful gold headed cane, Dr. F.A. Saum making the
presentation speech. DR. FIELD showed his appreciation and replied in a
most impressive manner. The evening was most enjoyably spent. DR. FIELD is
among our oldest physicians and the departure of this esteemed family to
their new home at Palestine, Texas, will be a source of regret.

Those who were present on this occasion were Drs. Yocom, McKlveen,
Throckmorton, Boynton, Barnes, T.P., John and J.E. Stanton, C.D. Harlan,
Storie, Larimer and F.A. Saum.
