William ROSE was born in 1817 in New York state, county unknown. Parents unknown. By virtue of DNA he is a descendant of Joseph ROSE, born 1632-33 of Scituate/ Marshfield , MA.

William lived in Lomira, Dodge co., WI from abt. 1855 to abt. 1865 and moved to Marion co., IA and was on the 1870 census. Shortly thereafter he and his family moved to Pleasant township, Lucas co., IA and he died 1874 and is buried at Zion Cemetery.

While in Dodge county, he married Margaret Goltry Armstrong abt. 1858-9. They had three ROSE sons:Benjamin Franklin ROSE, b.Oct 1860 in WI, Washington Urban ROSE, b.Feb. 1862 in WI and Paul Leslie ROSE, b.April 1867 in DesMoines. He also had two stepsons, Edger and Joseph Armstrong, born in WI 1848 and 1849. His family at some point after 1880 moved to OK and then TX.
He has many descendants in TX and CA.
