Shirley A. ROSSITER
Shirley Ann ROSSITER, age 59, rural Winfield, died Thursday, February 16, 1995 at the University Hospital in Iowa City.
The daughter of Glenn and Vera HALL-DAVIS, she was born November 29, 1935 north of Crawfordsville, Iowa.
On August 4, 1957 she married Leon ROSSITER at Winfield, Iowa. Shirley was a graduate of the Winfield High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. She taught school in Nevada, Iowa and Wyman, Iowa in earlier years. After teaching, she was very active in farming with her husband before her illness.
She was a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church, and was very active in church related organizations and committees. she was a membera nd past president of PEO, Chapter GT. She also was a member of the Questers Club.
Survivors include her Mother of Winfield; her husband of Winfield; 1 daughter, Kris TRAVIS of Wapello, Iowa; 2 sons, Kim ROSSITER of Winfield, Iowa and Kurt ROSSITER of Crawfordsville, Iowa; 4 grandchildren; 1 brother, Ronnie DAVIS of Winfield, Iowa and 1 sister, Karen CAWIEZELL of Eldridge, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her Father.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 20, 1995 at 10:30 a.m. from the United Methodist Church in Winfield, with Rev. Anne Lippincott officiating. Interment was in the Cambrian Cemetery, rural Columbus Junction, Iowa.
The family met with friends on Sunday from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield.
A general memorial has been established in her name.
Music was provided by Kathy Garris, organist, and vocalists Gladys DAVIS and Phyllis Volkens.
Casket bearers were Tim DAVIS, Bart CAWIEZELL, Kirk Beasley, Rodney DAVIS, Eric Graber and David Kochel.
