Charles Thompson, colored, passed away Monday at Mt. Pleasant. Through a business deal two years ago Mr. Thompson lost his farm near Wapello and since that time he has worried continuously over his loss. Worry is believed by his friends to have been responsible for the illness which preceded his death. Mr. Thompson resided for many years on his farm about three miles north of Wapello. He moved to Muscatine two years ago.

He is survived by his wife and eight children: Wesley Thompson, of Iowa City; Mrs. Floyd Walker, of Chicago; Emanual, Anna, Merritt and Walter at home; Mrs. Walter Seay and Mrs. Robert Johnson of South Muscatine. The remains were taken to his home in Muscatine where funeral services were held. Interment in the Mt. Hope cemetery, near Wapello.
