Mrs. William Furnas, a well known resident of Letts, died last Thursday afternoon at the home of her son Elwyn in Muscatine. Her death followed a long illness, which she bore bravely and uncomplainingly. Louellen Garrett, daughter of Bernard Garrett and wife, was born in Louisa county, August 26, 1866. She was married to Mr. Furnas on New Year's day, 1890. The family resided in Letts since, where two sons, Elwyn and Harry, were born. They survive with the father and two grandchildren, Frances and Annetta Furnas. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church at Letts at 2 p. m. Sunday, conducted by Rev. R.L. LeMotte. Burial was made in the Letts cemetery.
