Mrs. J. G. M. Smith, a long time prominent and well known resident of Morning Sun, died at her home there last Friday afternoon, at the age of 74 years. She was born in Licking county, Ohio, June 11, 1848 and came to Iowa with her parents, John C. and Jane Stewart, while a child. Morning Sun has been her home during the greater part of her life. Her husband J. G. M. Smith, died five weeks ago. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Morning Sun Sunday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by her pastor, Rev. Tinney. Burial was made in Elmwood cemetery.
