Mrs. Christine Gauss, a former resident of Louisa county, passed away Friday, November 3, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Stevens, at Oakes, North Dakota, at the age of 92 years. Christina Lautenschaugler was born in Germany, December 19, 1819, and came to this country in an early day. She was married to Christian Gauss and to them were born five children: Mary, who married Henry Wehmeyer and now resides on a farm near Wapello; Anna, wife of E. F. Stevens, of Oakes, North Dakota; George of Wapello and Emma Christine and Caroline Margaretta, both of whom died in infancy.

The family resided on a farm near Wapello for many years. Mr. Gauss passed away 19 years ago and since that time his widow has made her home with her children. The remains arrived in Wapello Tuesday night, accompanied by Mrs. E. F. Stevens and son. Funeral services were held at the Grace M. E. church at 2:30 yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Ludwig and Schmidt, with interment in the Wapello cemetery.
