Page 4Eliza McGill, daughter of Lydia and Hyram Cromer, was born at North Prairie, Muscatine County, Iowa, on March 30, 1861. She was married to Irving Delaska Law, in 1884 and was step mother to three children, Anson, Anna and Eva. To this union were born five children, one who died in infancy, Lydia Bell, Flora May, Alice Ann and Louvina Eliza. Mr. Law died as the result of an accident while operating a wood saw in November 1887. January 1, 1889 she was united in marriage to James Franklin McGill, and to them seven children were born, Ada Lee, Ora Pearl, William Hyram, Earland, Floyd, Marion Fay, Edna Blanch and Donald Sherman.
Mrs. McGill was stricken with apoplexy while in the activities of her home about noon October 18th and never regained consciousness when the end of life came Wednesday at 9:55 p. m., October 25, 1922, aged 61 years, 6 months and 25 days. She is preceded in death by an infant son and two daughters, Lydia Cole and Alice Fox. She is also survived by her husband James McGill, five daughters and four sons and one step son. There are also left of her father's family four brothers, Henry, George, Will and Frank Crowe and two sisters, Nancy Bowman and Alice Fullerton and three half brothers, John Charles and Mike Cromer and one half sister, Anna McKamley and two step sisters, Ella McKillip and Viola Beckey.
Deceased spent her life in the Christian activities of her family, her friends, and her home, where she was loved and respected by all who knew her. The funeral was from the M. E. church at Grandview and was largely attended. The funeral was conducted by J.R. Hammond of Wapello, assisted by H. M. Shellabarger of Washington, Iowa. Interment in the Grandview cemetery.
