Page 1Charles Tustison, who has been ill for several months with Bright's disease, passed away Friday night, October 6th, shortly before the midnight hour, at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Emma Wright, in this city. Charles Hook Tustison, son of Dr. Frank and Sophia Hook Tustison, was born in Wapello, Iowa, June 12, 1880. His father was one of the leading physicians in this city for many years. His parents preceded him in death a number of years ago. Deceased attended the public school here and for a number of he was assistant in the Wapello post office and a member of the Republican, Columbus Junction, IA office force. He was always kind, courteous and accommodating and made a host of friends throughout the community.
On June 12, 1902, he was united in marriage with Jessie Blake Wilson at the home of her parents near Morning Sun. For a time they made their home in Wapello, where their only child, Frances, was born and then moved to Kewanee, Ill., where Mr. Tustison was manager of one of the leading dry goods stores. On January 2, 1914, the wife and mother died very suddenly and the home was broken up. The little daughter then eight years of age, went to Morning Sun to live with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Wilson and Mr. Tustison continued to reside in Kewanee.
About six weeks ago deceased came back to Wapello to spend a much needed vacation with his uncles and aunts. Soon after arriving his condition became critical and he failed rapidly until the end came. Deceased is survived by his daughter Frances of Morning Sun, one brother, Frank Tustison of Minneapolis, Minn., and one sister, Mrs. Otto Schreiber of Glenville, Minn.; also by two half sister, Mrs. Emma Garrett and Mrs. Ora Reed, both of Seattle, Wash., and one half brother, Dwight Tustison of Wapello, Iowa.
Funeral services were held from the home of J. D. Deihl in Wapello, Monday morning, October 9, at 9:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. F. Jones, pastor of the Presbyterian church in Kewanee, assisted by Wapello Lodge No. 5, A. F. & A. M. Interment in the Rice cemetery, north of Morning Sun.
