Page 2Safeguard: Mrs. Anna Clouse Ross one of Columbus Junction's oldest and most highly respected women, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Turner, on Third street, Saturday night. She had been sick for a long time and her death was not unexpected. Deceased had been a resident of this vicinity for forty-five years and was well and favorably known. Anna Clouse was born Jun 21, 1837, in Kentucky and at the age of three years came with her parents to Montgomery, Ind, where she grew to young womanhood.
On June 7, 1853, she was united in marriage to Joseph Ross at Crawfordsville, Ind., and later they moved to this county and established their home. Their union was blessed with thirteen children, eight of them living. They are: Mrs. Geo. Turner, Mrs. Win Sheridan, Mrs. Blanche Lewis and P. C. Ross, of Columbus Junction, Stephen Ross, of Ainsworth, Mrs. John Chrisner, Aurora, Ill., Mrs. Hattie Taft, of Wyoming, Mrs. Minnie Marshall, Minnesota. Grandmother Ross was a kind and loving mother and a devoted neighbor and her summons to the great beyond comes after a well rounded out life of usefulness on earth. The funeral service was held from the home Monday p. m. at 2 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. Balcoff. Interment was made in Columbus City cemetery.
