Page 2Tuesday's Journal: John Lau, a well known resident of this city, dropped dead on the doorstep of his home this morning about 10:40 o'clock. He had gone in the yard for a few moments and was in the best of health at the time. His death was very unexpected and comes as a great shock to his relatives. the decedent was born in York town, Pa., in 1844, and would have been 70 years of age on his next birthday, October 26. He came to Iowa when at the age of 21 and settled in Columbus Junction, coming to this city in 1889 and living here ever since. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and two sons and three daughters, they being Roy of Elgin, Ill.; Herbert of this city; Mrs. William Wood and Mrs. Herbert Holliday of the city and Nettie at home. The funeral arrangements have not been made as yet.
