Saturday brought the sad news of the death of Mrs. C. D. Roberts at the home in Pallacious, Texas, August 8th, 1913, at the age of forty-four yeas. Mrs. Roberts had been in failing health for some years and became mentally deranged. Her fear of confinement in an asylum caused her to shoot herself with a gun, the shot being directed to the heart and death was instantaneous. The body was received here Tuesday evening and a private funeral was held at the home of S. F. Small yesterday afternoon conducted by Rev. E. C. Brooks. Mrs. Roberts was a daughter of the late Darius Key, was born west of this city August 5, 1869. On September 25th, 1890, she was married to Mr. C. D. Roberts, to whom were born five children, all of whom survive. Interment was made in the Wapello cemetery.
