Page 1Mrs. Catherine Harden died at the home of her son, Harley Harden, at Keota, Iowa, last Friday, March 8, age 72 years, 5 months and 23 days. She was born in Ohio Sept. 15, 1834. Her maiden name was Teeple. The family moved to Indiana where she was married to Isaiah Harden. About a year after their marriage they came to Iowa, living about two years in Sigourney, locating finally in Marshall township near Cairo, where they continued to reside until the death of her husband about fourteen years ago. She has since made her home with her son.
Besides this son she leaves three daughters: Etta, wife of John Murray, of Los Angeles, Cal; Emma McGlaughlin, of Malmo, Neb., Hiley Peck, of Rock Island, Ill. She also leaves six sisters to mourn her loss, Mrs. Jas. Mullen, of this place and Miss Emeline Teeple, residing near Cairo, both of whom were present at her death and funeral. Two sisters in Weeping Water, Neb., one in South Dakota and one in Moline, Ill., were not present.
The remains were brought to Cairo Saturday, where the funeral services were held in the church of God, of which she was a member, conducted by Rev. Wilson, of Columbus City. Burial by the side of her husband in the Cairo cemetery. She was a good Christian woman.
