David Louis Creiger was born Jan. 13, 1812, in Wayne county, New Jersey; died August 5, 1905, aged 93 years, 7 months and 22 days. He had been failing gradually for several years, dying of old age, being, perhaps, the oldest resident of this vicinity. He came to Iowa in 1851 and was married in 1857 to Mary Margaret Mason. To them were born twelve children, six boys and six girls, five of whom are living. Mrs. Mary Patterson and Isaac and William were present during his final sickness.

He died at the home of the latter, with whom he had resided during the last year of his life. Another daughter, Mrs. Mary Perkins, of Davenport, was not able to be present owing to serious sickness. The where about of the oldest son, George, is not known; so only three of the children, with the aged wife, were present, the latter being 63, while he was 30 years her senior.

He resided for almost 40 years, two and one-half miles east of Wapello, and was a familiar figure to all old settlers. Many of his old neighbors and friends attended the funeral services, which were held from the home Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Chas. Blanchard. Burial at Harrison cemetery.
