Oscar Louis Main, oldest son of Jas. A. Main and wife of this place, died quite suddenly Inst Saturday evening, May 27, 1905, of pneumonia, after an illness of less than a week. He was born February 10, 1885 and was therefore 20 years, 3 months and 17 days old at the time of his death. He was born in Morning Sun and has lived ll his life in this county, with the exception of two years in Kansas during childhood. He united with the Christian church in 1898. He was a thoroughly good boy, affectionate, kind, thoughtful of the interest of others, loving at home, dutiful to his parents, faithful to the church, sober, industrious and respected by all who knew him. He had faithfully filled the position of janitor of the Christian church since last fall, taking the work at his own request and without compensation save the recompense of doing well and willingly the thing that needed to be done and which he could do.

The last Sunday before his death he opened the house as usual and was present during Sunday School but went home before the church services because he was feeling unwell. Monday the physician was called but the fatal disease steadily progressed, ending in complete congestion of the lungs, delirium and death. He leaves five brothers and two sisters, besides father and mother and grandparents and numerous relatives here and in Pike county, Illinois. Funeral services held from the Christian church Monday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Chas. Blanchard pastor. Interment was in the Wapello cemetery, adding one more newly made grave for Decoration Day following.
