David Steele, one of the first settlers in this community, passed away Sunday night at 8 o'clock at his home south of Oakville. He had been in feeble health fro several years and his death was caused by a paralytic stoke. Deceased was born Sept. 12, 1822, in Monroe county, Ohio. He came to Iowa about fifty years ago settling first at New London, and later moving to this township. He was of a quiet disposition and was highly respected by all. The funeral was held Tuesday from his late home at 2 o'clock p. m. Interment in the Creighton cemetery.
