Our people were considerably surprised to hear of the death of Louis R. Foor, which occurred last Sunday morning about 8 o'clock. He had been sick but a few days with Ersipelas. He had never known what it was to be sick but the disease assumed a malignant form from the start and he was dead before many of his friends knew he was sick. The deceased had been a familiar Wapello figure for a good many years and was well liked in the community for his honesty and kind hearted nature. He was an old soldier, having enlisted in the 8th Iowa Cavalry Aug. 11, 1863 and served his country faithfully until the close of the war.

He was born in Bedfored county, Pennsylvania, April 20, 1847, which would make him aged nearly 57 yeas. In the fall of 1859 he came Wapello. One February 16, 1872, he was united in marriage with Marietta Morse. To this union was born four children, Oscar Foor, who, with the mother and Clinton, an adopted son, are left to mourn a kind father an husband. The deceased also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Biggs and Mrs. Jacob Hunsicker and one brother, Henry Foor. The funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were in charge of A. M. Taylor Post, No. 153, G. A. R. of which he was an honored member, assisted by Rev. W. H. Cooper. Interment was made in Wapello cemetery.
