Mrs. Mary Gates, wife of Dr. L. W. Gates, of the Soldiers' Home, died Sunday of pneumonia, after a ten days' illness. She lived for many years in Lettsville, and the funeral as held from the brick church in seventy-six township, yesterday morning, conducted by Rev. D. C. Bevan, of Ottumwa. Mrs. W. F. Hunter and M. J. Shellabarger, of Letts, are sister and brother of the deceased.
