Mrs. Mary A. Carr, wife of J. J. Carr, of Fredonia, died Saturday morning in a Burlington hospital while the doctors were engaged in performing an operation for obstruction of the bowels. She had been sick but a few days, and was taken to the hospital the day previous to her death. Mrs. Carr was about 46 years of age. She was the daughter of Mrs. Rebecca R. Wright, of Morning Sun, and a sister of C. M. Wright, of this city. She also leaves two brothers, Herbert, of Clarence, Mo., and Warren of Colfax, Iowa.

The deceased has lived in Louisa county nearly her entire life and was loved and admired by a large circle of friends. She has been a most successful teacher for a number of years, and was employed at the time of her death in the primary grade of the Columbus Junction public schools. Besides her mother and three brothers she leaves a husband and a daughter ten years of age, to mourn her untimely death. The funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church in Morning Sun at 2 p. m. Monday, conducted by Rev. Vance, of Columbus Junction, assisted by Morning Sun pastors.
