Schuyler Verdow died quite suddenly at Hot Springs, near Las Vegas, N. M., on Sunday morning, the 13th inst. Schuyler Verdow was born September 11, 1869. He came to Wapello from South Dakota about ten years ago, and on Thanksgiving Day, 1893, was married to Miss Hattie, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. B. Beane, of this city. He was an expert stenographer being employed in offices here, at Columbus Junction and Muscatine. The last named position he was compelled to relinquish on account of failing health, but after a brief rest and southern trip he was able to accept the appointment of court reporter to Judge Withrow.

Mr. Verdow was a quiet, unostentatious young man, yet most genial and companionable with those of kindred spirit. He confessed Christ in youth, uniting with the Presbyterian church, but was broad in faith. Besides the wife and three children, Antony, Paul and Marion, he leaves to morn his early death an aged father, Anthony Verdow, and three sisters, Mrs. Lou Thompson and Mrs. Kittie Lawrence, of Chicago and Mrs. Hattie Jones, of Agency, Iowa. Schuyler Verdow learned well the lessons on life, the lessons of charity, patience, industry and honesty, for he was large hearted and the soul of honor. A dutiful son, a loving husband, an indulgent father and true friend.

The body arrived in Wapello last night and and was met at the depot by a committee from the Knights of Pythias lodge, of which the deceased was a member. The funeral services will be held at the residence this morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. S. H. Parvin, of Morning Sun and Rev. R. J. L. Matthews. The Knights of Pythias will perform ritualistic services at the Wapello cemetery
