William Asher, one of Louisa county's oldest citizens, died at the home of his daughter in Letts, April 28th. He was born in the state of Indiana in the year 1808, being 94 years old at the time of his death. He was in every sense of the term a pioneer, having come to Iowa in 1839, seven years before the state was admitted into the union. The greater part of his life was spent in Muscatine county. Seventy one years ago he was married to Arcada Brummage. They lived together sixty-three years. Fifty six years ago he united with the church of the Latter Day Saints and continued faithful until his death. He was the father of thirteen children. His funeral was held from the Methodist church at Letts, conduced by the pastor, T. S. Pool.
