The hand of death has been laid upon a prominent business man of this city, P. P. Kinsey, who died at his home on West Third street last Thursday. His death resulted from cancer, a disease from which he suffered for over twenty years, and for the cure of which he consulted some of the most prominent specialists in the United States. Plummer P. Kinsey was born at Smithfield, Jefferson county, Ohio, on April 24, 1841. In 1851 his parents removed to Wapello, Iowa, where he remained until the war broke out, when he enlisted in the 6th Iowa infantry.

After serving about nine months in the south he contracted a disease of the lungs which threatened to prove fatal and he was discharged and sent home to die. He soon recovered and then engaged in the dry goods business in Wapello, where he remained for a short time, moving thence to West Liberty, Iowa, he conducted a dry good store in West Liberty for five years, being in partnership with his brother, E. L. Kinsey.

In the fall of 1875 he came to Faribault and purchased Cathcort's dry goods store, making this city his home from that date. Being possessed of a sound judgment and excellent business qualifications, he soon established a large trade and an enviable reputation. He was strictly honest and upright in all his dealings and his word was always as good as his bond.

In 1873 he was united in marriage, at West Liberty, Iowa to Miss Alice Irwin, who, with two daughters, Misses Elma and Olive Kinsey, are left to mourn the loss of husband and father. He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kinsey, of this city, together with four brothers and two sisters, viz.; E. L. and R. L Kinsey, of this city, L. M. Kinsey, Keithsburg, Ill.; Louis Kinsey, Montgomery, Ala; Mrs. J. M. Grasham, Englewood, Kansas and Mrs. Geo. M. Kimball, of this city.

The funeral took place from the residence at two o'clock Saturday. Services were conducted by the Rev. Chas. L. Slattery, of the Cathedral, and Rev. Geo. S. Ricker, of the Congregational church. The remains were interred in Maple Lawn cemetery.
