May Russell Bailey died of consumption at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Russell in Huron township, Des Moines, county, Iowa, Feb. 19. She was united in marriage to T. L. Bailey July 4, 1893. Of this union one son was born and was taken sick while his parents were attending he semi-centennial celebration at Burlington and died November 10, 1896, a little over three months old.

After the death of her babe she went to Chicago for medical treatment, hoping to be restored to health. After a month's treatment, having received no benefit, she returned home and patiently awaited the end. The funeral was conducted at the home by the Presbyterian minister from Kossuth in a solemn and impressive manner. Her remains were followed by a large number of friends and neighbors to the Edwards cemetery and laid to rest by the side of her babe, by her request.
