Oliver P. Odell was born in the state of Ohio, August 20, 1822. He was married to Mary Lowe in 1847, and together they came to this county in the spring of 1871, residing on a farm in Jefferson township until a few years ago, when they came to town to live. There was born to this couple 8 children, 4 sons and 4 daughters, all of whom, with the aged mother, are living.

Mr. Odell, when but 18 years of age united with the Christian church, in the faith of which he continued throughout his long life. After months of suffering and confinement in his home death came to him as a release Saturday, June 30, at 2 o'clock. The funeral occurred Monday the 2nd, inst., from the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. J. C. Willits.
