About 1:30 o'clock Sunday morning March 4, Wapello last another of its good citizens in the death of Michel Roos. He was born in Germany March 1, 1822, therefore had just passed the 72nd mile stone in life's journey. He left the Fatherland in 1845 for this country, locating in Jefferson township, in this county, in 1855, where he continued to reside until a few years ago when he came to Wapello, to rid himself for the remaining years of his life of the care and labor of the farm. The same year he came to this county, viz:1855, he took two other important steps, making it the most eventful year of his life. that year he married Miss Josepha Reutinger and he united with the German M. E. church.

Just a week previous to his death he was stricken with paralysis and though regaining consciousness, was never able to speak. His death, like life, was quiet, peaceful and passing away in the full assurance of a glorious inheritance. He held several offices in the church and was one of its faithful trustees at the time of his death. The funeral was conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. H. Knehan, at the German M. E. church Monday after noon and the remains laid to rest in the Wapello cemetery.
