Cyrus Morgan was born at South Charleston, Clark County, Ohio, September 13th, 1833. With his father's family he came to Wapello in the Spring of 1851 and engaged in the saddlery business with his father and brothers. In the autumn following his father and only sister died and their remains were interred in the Cairo cemetery. Of the five brothers, only two, Rodney F. and Wm. H. survive him. His mother died at Holden, Johnson County, Mo., Sept. 17th, 1884 and there her remains were interred. Mr. Morgan was united in marriage with Miss Clara Drake, Oct. 29th, 1863, who with two sons, William and Frank and on daughter, Mary survive him. He was a member of the Lutheran church at South Charleston, Ohio. January 11th he was attacked with La Grippe from which he never recovered; and on Friday morning March 4th, 1892, at 9:30 0'clock, death came to set his spirit free.

In his residence of more than 40 years in Wapello as a business man, Mr. Morgan had won a reputation for honesty and fair dealing that gave him high standing in business circles. He was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and honorable business man, who will be missed in all these relations in life. The funeral occurred last Sunday at 2 p. m. from the M. E. church where a crowded house gathered to express their appreciation of the worth of a fellow citizen. Rev. J. C. Willits delivered the discourse.
