Mr. J. B. McDill died at his late home in Port Louisa twp., Louisa co., Ia., Aug. 7, '91, of a fibrous tumor, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 28 days. Mr. McDill was born in South Carolina and was brought by his parents when but a child, to Sparta, southern Ill., where he was reared and lived until the year, 1846, when in Nov. of that year he came to this township where he has resided ever since. His business was that of general farming. He was married Oct. 2, 1850, to Miss Martha A. Ronald, a daughter of Col. John Ronald of the Black Hawk war.

Being naturally of a domestic habit of mind Mr. McDill took great delight in his home, in his children and in recognizing that God had blessed him and his family. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. McKelvey of Morning Sun, Ia., at the Harrison church, Monday, Aug, 10, 1891, when a good number of friends were assembled and from there they followed the remains to their last resting place in the Harrison cemetery.
