Died at her home in Jefferson township July 28, 1890, of blood poisoning, Christina Friedericke Brendel, wife of J. G. Brendel, aged sixty eight years and ten months. Mrs. Brendle's last sickness was not protracted, but severely painful. For a long time she had been in rather poor health and when about the first of the month she became in some way poisoned through a slight blister on the right hand, the system seemed to be in no condition to overcome the disease and the most skillful medical treatment could not change the result.

Mrs. Brendel was born in Prussia Sept. 28th, 1821 and was married to the husband who now mourns her loss, July 4, 1849. She leaves beside the husband two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Korn and Miss Clara Brendel. She was a consistent member of the German Lutheran church and her earthly life went out in radiant hope, The funeral at the residence by Rev. A. W. Cooper. With the remains in their last resting place in the Mallory Cemetery.
