Lettsville, May 12 - James M. K. Coder aged 76 years, died Sunday the 11th, inst. at his home in Lettsville of cancerous affection of the throat from which he had been suffering since last January. His death was not unexpected but had been almost hourly looked for for weeks past. The deceased came to this country from Ohio about the close of the war, and followed farming for some years in this vicinity, finally moving to this place where he built a comfortable house and lived with his family ever since.

His wife survives him also 5 sons and 3 daughters. The sons are John, Newton, Frank, Lemuel and Charles, all of whom are married and live in this vicinity except Frank who resides at Leon, Decatur county. The daughters are Mrs. Rhoades of Decatur county, Mrs. Allie VanHorn who resides here and Miss Sara Coder of Muscatine.

He was a member of the M. E. church, an exemplary christian, zealous in the christian work, and a good and kind hearted citizen, had charity for all and malice toward none. He was buried in the Lettsville cemetery Tuesday.
