Deaths- Saturday morning, Feb. 18th, 1871, at his residence near Cairo in this county, on congestion of the lungs, Jacob Minton, in the 74th year of his age. Jacob Minton was born in Washington Co., Pennsylvania, moving thence to Ohio. In February, 1839 he came to this county and took a claim near Virginia Grove. In 1844 he joined the M. E. Church, and to the time of his death remained an active, faithful member of that body. He had been thrice married and now leaves a widow and an unmarried daughter to mourn his departure.
