Norman Jamison, aged about 68 in failing health and mentally unbalanced, committed suicide at his home on South Main street, in South Wapello, at about eleven o'clock Tuesday morning. Mr. Jamison was alone in the home at the time. Since the death of his wife in April, 1891, he has made his home at he old family homestead with his children. His daughter, Lenna, an employee at the local telephone exchange was just returning to the home for the noon meal when she heard the shot which ended her father's life. She immediately summoned neighbors but the father was dead before aid arrived. Mr. Jamison killed himself with a shotgun, placing the muzzle of the weapon against his breast. Due to the condition of his mind, a guardian, was appointed for him some years ago. Mr. Jamison is survived by seven children, three daughters, Elma and Lenna of Wapello and Ina, who is teaching school at Albion, Ia. and four sons, Merle, Vivian, Cecil and Max. The latter two residing at home. He is also survived by one brother, Mortimer Jamison, who lives in Canada.
