The community was deeply disturbed early Wednesday morning May 17th, 1922, when the news was carried that Mrs. Henry E. Davis had been stricken with heart failure and had passed away. She was present at church services the evening before and retired with seemingly her usual health. Mrs. Mary Davis was born at Llanegryn Merionythshire, North Wales, February 3rd, 1864. She was one of five children and she is survived by one son, David Davis of San Pedro, California. She emigrated to this country with her parents in April 1870, making her home for a period of six years at Racine, Wisconsin.

She moved from there to this community. September 3rd, 1896 she was united in marriage to Mr. Henry E. Davis. Three children were born to the union, Latimer, Willard and Uriah, who survive to mourn their loss, as well as her husband and one brother. Mrs. Davis was an active member of the Salem Welsh Presbyterian church, a member of the Women's Missionary Society and had a class of small children in Sunday school. Funeral services held at Salem Presbyterian church Monday afternoon were very largely attended. The services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. H. W. Owen assisted by Rev. Allen of Wyman. The remains were interred at the Cambrian cemetery.
